Nakasendo Touring Day 2 (2024.6.17)

Rain was predicted for the second day, but the weather was sunny from the morning.

On this trip we plan to visit two valleys, Atera Valley and Kakizore Valley , but in order to see the beautiful valleys we need to visit on a good weather day.

My final destination will be Nagoya this evening as I am attending a university reunion there, but I decided not to waste the good weather and changed my plans to visit Kakizore Valley.

We left the hotel at 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Kakizore Valley after about 30 minutes on our scooters.

Suspension Bridge of Love

I encountered a huge frog on the hiking trail (lol) He looked like he had a higher IQ than me...💦

It's emerald green! The water is so clear you'll want to swim in it.

After strolling through (part of) Kakizore Valley for about an hour, we will head to the reunion venue in Nagoya, but on the way we also plan to stop by two Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings: Iwamura Castle Town and Asuke .

Since I hadn't had breakfast, I decided to start by stopping off at Kongo-ya, a handmade soba restaurant in Otsumago-juku, for some soba noodles.

The inside was completely made of an old house.

"Please hit the clapper to call a staff member." (laughs)

I had mountain vegetable soba (cold), and I have never eaten such delicious soba. I couldn't forget the taste, so I tried to stop by this soba restaurant again during my stay, but it was sold out...💦 I will definitely visit again when I visit the Tsumago area. I hope the old man lives a long life!

We left Otsumago at 12 o'clock and arrived in Iwamura at 13 o'clock.
